ABOUT THE HOTEL
James Braid Lounge
With five Open Championship wins in the space of a decade, James Braid was considered to be the finest golf player of his day.
Born 6th February 1870 in The Royal Burgh of Elie and Earsferry in Fife, this remarkable man went onto design over 250 courses within the UK and was the founder and President of the PGA
He is responsible for most of the well known and prestigious courses - however, it was only after a round at Brora, that Peter Thomson expressed the view that a society dedicated to the memory of James Braid was long overdue.
The James Braid Golfing Society seeks to preserve the values and dignity that he established as protocol and exists to honour his wisdom, patient advocacy and wonderful imagination.
