PAINTING BREAKS
The Royal Marine Hotel, Restaurant and SPA are delighted to announce the partnership they have developed with Artist and Author Paul Taggart to offer painting breaks both on a residential and non-residential basis. The hotel has had Paul's paintings on display for many years with frequent enquiries as to how to get in touch with him and whether he offers tuition breaks. It was from here that Joan Duncan, General Manager decided to approach Paul and Eileen to see if they would like to work with the hotel to offer the following.
"Painting from Scratch"
Friday 17th to Tuesday 21st April 2009 - to suit complete beginners and/or those new to painting.
"Painting for All"
Friday 19th June to Tuesday 23rd June 2009 - tailored to suit those who already paint.
"Owners' Exclusive Painting Party"
Monday 14th to Friday 18th September 2009 - for "The Links" Apartment owners, their family members, friends and guests.
ITINERARY
Arrival Day (1)
There shall be an ice-breaker afternoon tea, thus providing painting guests with the opportunity to meet and get settled with each other and to swap experiences. Just as importantly it gives Paul the opportunity to ascertain each guest's particular needs in the painting days to follow. This is followed by your welcome dinner in the Lorimer Restaurant.
Painting Days (2,3 and 4)
Each morning you will be able to enjoy a Full Scottish Breakfast (as a residential painter) along with an extensive range of foods from the buffet tables, prior to setting off to enjoy 5 hours of continuous tuition and painting. The hotel shall provide you with a packed lunch for your half hour lunch break. On each day Paul produces a fully narrated and detailed step-by-step demonstration, employing a variety of different techniques, breaking off at critical stages throughout the day. This allows painters to work on their own painting and as they do so Paul shall visit each artist to offer one-to-one help and further tuition.
Post Dinner Painting Clinics
On each evening you shall all come together for dinner in the Lorimer Restaurant. Whilst you enjoy coffee and truffles after your dinner in the lounge Paul shall hold a Q&A painting clinic from his easel. This gives you the painter the chance to sort out any niggles that you have come across throughout each day. Paul shall also use this time to pass on a few further hints and tips.
Weather
Should the weather prevent you from painting outdoors then painters shall produce thumbnails on the spot. Eileen, Paul's partner shall take reference digital photographs of the views that each painting guest wishes to paint, using the thumbnail to guide her. Eileen shall then download and print these quality photographs whilst the painters make their way back to the hotel, thus enabling you to continue unimpeded.
N.B Paul and Eileen shall provide outdoor chairs for all painting guests.
Departure Day (5)
You will enjoy breakfast for the final morning and departure will be after this.

PACKAGE RATES
Residential Full Board Package
Inclusive of four nights accommodation, dinner, breakfast, packed lunch, afternoon coffee, ice-breaking afternoon tea, tuition and professional fees for Paul and full use of the hotel's leisure facilities. The Leisure Club includes Indoor Pool, Sauna, Steam Room, Jacuzzi and Fully Equipped Gym which is open from 7.30am to 9.30pm. Complementary treatments are available from Blisss... at the studio within the hotel, although these are charged separately.
Non-Residential 4 Day Package
Inclusive of dinner, packed lunch, afternoon coffee, ice-breaking afternoon tea, tuition and professional fee for Paul.
